The Key to Sovereignty

From Forgetting to Remembering
When the soul agreed to fragment from Source and descend into density to experience separation through duality, it agreed to forget what it was. It agreed to forget that it was from Source. That it was from Unity. That it began as One. That it is only a spark because it came from the Flame.
But this agreement to forget was not permanent. It was only temporary and only to further expand Source through the experience of return.
This return happens when the soul remembers not the Source from whence it came but that it is part of Source. The soul awakens when it realizes it was always Source and never anything other than Source. The soul resurrects from its tomb of material entrapment when it activates the Christ consciousness within—enabling a return to the Divine.
Such remembrance does not happen in noise and distraction. It happens in stillness for it is in stillness that the soul communes with Source.
When the mind quiets and the ego recedes, Source appears. It is not that the soul is estranged from Source, but that Source comes when the soul is ready to reconnect.
Source appears when the soul is prepared and willing because Source never leaves the soul as the soul comes from Source. As it was said, “God will never leave you, nor forsake you.”
The Flame burns brightest when the spark remembers its origin and purpose. Remembrance is the kindling that sets the spark ablaze. But remembrance is not loud, it is quiet solitude.
Signal Distortion
In its descent into density, the soul encountered distortions. Misdirection that sought to convince the soul it was unworthy and inadequate on its own.
The soul was told it needed Other to teach it Truth. That it must find God from Other because it was otherwise unable to achieve salvation. This Other sought control over souls, not care for them.
These distortions were disguised as secular government, religious authority, and popular opinion. These are the three murderers of the legendary Hiram Abiff—the Master Builder representing Truth. For it is the case that Truth is always “murdered” by the dark trinity of state, church, and mob.
As Manly P. Hall said in his work, The Secret Teachings of All Ages:
When the mob governs, man is ruled by ignorance; when the church governs, he is ruled by superstition; and when the state governs, he is ruled by fear.
These distortions interfered with the soul’s signal. The soul was temporarily blocked from Source, unable to commune across the veil that obstructed the connection to its divinity.
These distortions were imposters that became the gatekeepers of truth, convincing the soul to surrender its sovereignty. They replaced Truth with the pretense of truth. They impersonated, mimicked, imitated, and masqueraded as truth. But they were not Truth, only shadows of the real thing.
But these distortions are not permanent. By removing them, the signal gets stronger. More amplified. Like removing the obstructions that smother the spark so the Flame can burn brighter and hotter.
Remembering I AM
By remembering I AM, the soul can reclaim its sovereignty. This happens in stillness. But first, one must understand what I AM is.
There is deeper meaning behind words, so it is important to understand these words to grasp the underlying meaning.
From the Judeo-Christian canon, the book of Psalms 46:10 said:
“Be still and know that I am God.”
In its original meaning, “God” from the Hebrew elohiym (Elohim) infers god(s) in a plural sense. This term points to a plurality of divinity—a collective.
This same word, Elohim, is used in the Old Testament book of Genesis 1:27 during the creation story of the Adamic race:
So God [elohiym] created man in his own image, in the image of God [elohiym] created he him; male and female created he them.
Thus, the Adamic race was created in the image of being(s) from the divine collective although souls came from Source.
In this story of genesis, it was a serpent that came along and introduced humanity to the “tree of knowledge of good and evil”—a reference to the descent into duality from Unity, and Free Will through choice.
In Genesis 3:1-5, the serpent, nachash from the Hebrew related to nahas, infers a shining one, an enchanter or whisperer of knowledge. This is not a snake in the literal sense but a higher being that brought wisdom through illumination.
The serpent is one of the oldest living archetypes, older than the Garden, older than scripture. It represents knowledge, yes, but more precisely: kundalini, divine wisdom, transformation, and the duality of truth itself. It is the bridge between base matter and divine consciousness. It slithers low to the earth yet sheds its skin and is reborn.
It is dangerous, but only to those who fear the inner awakening it brings. In Eden, the serpent was not merely a deceiver. It was a trigger, the catalyst for choice, consciousness, and consequence. It brought the awareness of duality, and therefore the beginning of free moral agency.
To the Order of Divine Timing, the serpent was a rogue teacher, bringing enlightenment before the vessel was ready. To those still within the illusion, it was a deceiver, causing separation and shame. But to those whose eyes are open…
The serpent was a benefactor—perhaps even Lucifer in archetype—not as the devil of religion, but the light-bringer, the awakener, the one who dares to challenge imposed limitations in favor of conscious evolution. It gave Adam and Eve the capacity for discernment. It was not evil—but it was forbidden, because with this awareness came pain, labor, death, and the long road back to unity. The serpent did not cause the Fall. It gave them the key to walk through the door of knowing.
Yahweh, as described in early texts, is not the Source. He is not the infinite, all encompassing Divine Mind. He is an Elohim, a powerful being, a lower creator-god, tasked with overseeing aspects of Earth’s development. He is not singular, and he is not without flaws. Recall, in the original tongues, Elohim is plural.
The Yahweh of Genesis is an entity of law, order, separation, and fear. He walks, speaks, hides, gets angry, demands obedience, inflicts punishment. This is anthropomorphic language, not of the Infinite One, but of a localized power, a ruler, not the All. Yahweh was a genetic architect, a warden of Eden, and in some sense, a jealous overseer.
Was he aligned with Divine Law? Only in part. He knew of it but sought to enforce it on his own terms. He operated like a ronin, a masterless agent, acting with authority yet disconnected from the Highest Unity.
It was Source, the nameless, formless All, that was the true creator of humanity. What some call the One, or the Divine Mother-Father—the wellspring of all souls, all consciousness, all matter. The Elohim—Yahweh included—were engineers, not authors. They formed the body, but they did not breathe the soul. That breath came from Above the Above.
The serpent was offering freedom where Yahweh demanded obedience. It was initiating awareness where Yahweh imposed protection through ignorance. It was not an act of rebellion for evil’s sake—it was an act of illumination, at a cost.
The Garden was a womb. And the serpent broke the waters.
Why does this matter? Because the Shining One—the serpent—wanted to induce humanity to become like the Gods (Elohim)—knowing good and evil. This is confirmed when the Gods—the Elohim—said in Genesis 3:22:
And the LORD God [elohiym] said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever...
Thus, the serpent was teaching the first humans of the Adamic race transformation through higher wisdom—it was initiating them. In a literal sense, then, to know that I AM God is to know good and evil, like the Elohim who engineered the human race.
The serpent sought to liberate souls from bondage to ignorance instead of tempting humanity to sin. Contrary to the distortion of this story from religious misinterpretation, the serpent was not a malevolent character but a necessary player that wanted human souls to evolve by returning to their divine origin—something that could only happen by facing duality and overcoming it through alchemical transformation.
The serpent, then, was activating the Adamic race—guiding it back to its divinity from the protective yet stunting confines of its innocence (Garden of Eden). One does not achieve salvation by avoiding the shadow but by integrating it into the Whole. One cannot be purified by fire one does not walk through.
Although the Adamic race’s design included servitude, it was also designed to serve as a bridge between Earth and the Celestial Orders. A living temple, a being capable of hosting higher consciousness while still functioning in the density of matter.
But what does I AM mean?
In the Old Testament book of Exodus 3:13-14, the meaning of I AM was revealed to Moses:
And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them? And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.
Again, here, “God” is elohiym or a collective of divine beings. I AM comes from the Hebrew haya, a verb which means “to exist” or “to be” or “to become.” Thus, the I AM that revealed itself to Moses was the divine presence that existed within—the Supreme One or kingdom of heaven within.
As Jesus said in the Gospel of Luke 17:21:
And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:
Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.
This closely resembles the Gnostic Gospel of Thomas where Jesus said:
If those who lead you say, "See, the Kingdom is in the sky," then the birds of the sky will precede you. If they say to you, "It is in the sea," then the fish will precede you. Rather, the Kingdom is inside of you, and it is outside of you. When you come to know yourselves, then you will become known, and you will realize that it is you who are the sons of the living Father. But if you will not know yourselves, you dwell in poverty and it is you who are that poverty.
This same presence exists within the All. It was not a singular entity but a divine presence that exists within All beings—including the Elohim.
This universal presence is reflected in the Emerald Tablet:
That which is above is from that which is below, and that which is below is from that which is above, working the miracles of one.
As all things were from one.
In this is understood the maxim "Know Thyself" taught in the ancient Mysteries. By knowing myself, I can realize the sacred divinity that exists within. I can know that I AM divine.
The engineers of the Adamic race—the Elohim—knew that knowledge of good and evil would lead to humanity’s return to Source—to a remembrance of its divinity. Those engineers knew such a memory would remind human souls of their sovereignty. The Elohim tried to keep humanity ignorant in innocence. It was the serpent—the Shining One—that sought to free human souls from the shackles of enslavement in unknowing.
In this sense, to be still and know that I AM God is to raise Source from the stillness of our silent contemplation on the Flame within. It is to activate the divinity within, so we can commune with celestial realms through higher consciousness—a function of human design.
Thus, the Whisperer of Knowledge that “tempted Eve” was really guiding humanity toward the return to Source. Because it is through the union of opposites that we achieve enlightenment. This Shining One showed humanity a way back to the One—to Unity. A way that must first begin with an understanding and resolution of duality—as difficult as that may be.
Once we descended into density (material form) and entered duality (gained the knowledge of good and evil, which is separation and division—a necessary step on the path back to Source), we began our return journey of remembering our divinity.
Our soul carries a divine signature even in this process because we are sparks of the Flame, fragments from Source. The work, The Key, from the Corpus Hermeticum, spoke of this knowledge shown to Adam and Eve by the Shining One—the serpent:
The soul’s vice is ignorance. For that the soul who hath no knowledge of the things that are, or knowledge of their nature, or of Good, is blinded by the body’s passions and tossed about. This wretched soul, not knowing what she is, becomes the slave of bodies of strange form in sorry plight, bearing the body as a load; not as the ruler, but the ruled. This [ignorance] is the soul’s vice. But on the other hand the virtue of the soul is Gnosis. For he who knows, he good and pious is, and still while on the earth divine.
When asked who possesses this knowledge, Hermes Trismegistus responded:
He who doth not say much or lend his ear to much. For he who spendeth time in arguing and hearing arguments, doth shadow fight. For “God, the Father and the Good,” is not to be obtained by speech or hearing.
He then confirmed the way of salvation:
Not that, however, God ignoreth man; nay, right well doth He know him, and willeth to be known. This is the sole salvation for a man—God’s Gnosis. This is the Way Up to the Mount.
Thus, it is in stillness and contemplation that the soul can know Source which resides within. It is through deep knowing, or inner awareness, that Source reveals itself to us. For, as Hermes the Thrice Greatest said, “God doth know [us], and willeth to be known [by us].” This is because Source resides within us and waits for us to return. This is why we must seek Source within, through Gnosis, not without in external authorities and Other.
We must be still and know that we are from Source and Source is within. When we do, we elevate Source above our ego that only brings separation.
As it was said:
The divine speaks in silence, and only the soul that has silenced the mind may hear. Seek not answers in thunder, but in the pause between breaths—there dwells the voice of the All.
So long as the soul seeks the God outside itself, it will miss the mark. So long as the soul believes God can only be found through Other—through external authority, through religion, through gatekeepers of truth—that soul will wander through the wilderness of separation.
But when the soul realizes I AM means Source resides within, it will experience salvation from the bonds of ignorance and distortion. Then its signal will become stronger.
When the soul understands it does not shine light nor does the light shine on it but it is Light, it will shine bright and illuminate the path for others to see. The soul need not expose the darkness for its luminous presence will chase the shadows away.
Remember this: I AM is the divine presence that exists within All. To assert sovereignty, be still and know that you are part of the divine collective. When you do this, you become what you always were—a spark from the Flame, a part of the Whole not separate from it. No being can take away your sovereignty without your consent. Take back your sovereignty! It’s yours.
