Who were the “fallen Watchers?”
The story of the fallen Watchers courses its way throughout history like a river of truth that never runs dry, invoking a sense of mystery that is both monstrous and surreal. These celestial guardians, tasked with looking after the Adamic race in its early development, were known by many names. But this story is more nuanced than myth admits and more influential on humanity’s development than most remember.
Let us examine this ancient story to gather its scattered fragments into a more unified whole. By reigniting the fire of this memory, the soul can regain the original understanding of Divine Order, and return to alignment with the Divine Plan.
In the Book of Enoch, the patriarch Enoch spoke of judgment against the fallen Watchers:
The Holy Great One will come out from His dwelling…And all shall be very afraid. The Watchers shall shake, and great fear and trembling shall seize them all the way to the ends of the earth…He comes with ten thousand of His holy ones to execute judgement on all, and to destroy all the ungodly; and to convict all flesh of all the works of their ungodliness which they have ungodly committed, and of all the hard things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.
The Judeo-Christian New Testament book of Jude 1:4-6, 14-15 referred to them as “angels”:
For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.
I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not.
And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day…
And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,
To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.
What were the “ungodly deeds” that brought such ire from beyond the veil and ruin to the Earth? The Book of Enoch described these deeds:
And it came to pass when the children of men had multiplied that in those days were born to them beautiful and fair daughters.
And the angels, the sons of heaven, saw and lusted after them, and said to one another: “Come, let us choose us wives from among the children of men and have children with them.”
And Semjaza, who was their leader, said to them: “I fear you will not agree to do this deed, and I alone shall have to pay the penalty of this great sin.”
And they all answered him and said: “Let us all swear an oath, and all bind ourselves by mutual curses so we will not abandon this plan but to do this thing.” Then they all swore together and bound themselves by mutual curses.
And they were in all two hundred who descended in the days of Jared in the summit of Mount Hermon, and they called it Mount Hermon, because they had sworn and bound themselves by mutual curses on the act.
And these are the names of their leaders: Samlazaz, their leader, Araklba, Rameel, Kokablel, Tamlel, Ramlel, Danel, Ezeqeel, Baraqijal, Asael, Armaros, Batarel, Ananel, Zaqiel, Samsapeel, Satarel, Turel, Jomjael, Sariel. These are their chiefs of tens.
And all of them together went and took wives for themselves, each choosing one for himself, and they began to go in to them and to defile themselves with sex with them.
And the angels taught them charms and spells, and the cutting of roots, and made them acquainted with plants.
And the women became pregnant, and they bare large giants, whose height was three thousand cubits.
The giants consumed all the work and toil of men. And when men could no longer sustain them, the giants turned against them and devoured mankind.
And they began to sin against birds, and beasts, and reptiles, and fish, and to devour one another's flesh, and drink the blood.
Then the earth laid accusation against the lawless ones…
And Azazel taught men to make swords, and knives, and shields, and breastplates, and taught them about metals of the earth and the art of working them, and bracelets, and ornaments, and the use of antimony, and the beautifying of the eyelids, and all kinds of precious stones, and all coloring and dyes.
And there was great impiety; they turned away from God, and committed fornication, and they were led astray, and became corrupt in all their ways.
Semjaza taught the casting of spells, and root-cuttings, Armaros taught counter-spells, Baraqijal taught astrology, Kokabel taught the constellations, Ezeqeel the knowledge of the clouds, Araqiel the signs of the earth, Shamsiel the signs of the sun, and Sariel the course of the moon. And as men perished, they cried, and their cry went up to heaven…
Look at what Azazel has done, who hath taught all unrighteousness on earth and revealed the eternal secrets which were made and kept in heaven, which men were striving to learn.
And Semjaza, who taught spells, to whom you gave authority to rule over his associates.
And they have gone to the daughters of men on the earth, and have had sex with the women, and have defiled themselves, and revealed to them all kinds of sins.
And the women have borne giants, and the whole earth has thereby been filled with blood and unrighteousness.
This familiar story echoes in the Old Testament book of Genesis 6:1-6, although this account refers to these Watchers as “sons of God” who produced offspring that were “giants” and “mighty men…of old” who brought great wickedness and evil on Earth:
And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,
That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.
And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.
There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.
And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.
In his book, The Antiquities of the Jews, Josephus wrote of these “angels of God”:
NOW this posterity of Seth continued to esteem God as the Lord of the universe, and to have an entire regard to virtue, for seven generations; but in process of time they were perverted, and forsook the practices of their forefathers, and did neither pay those honors to God which were appointed them, nor had they any concern to do justice towards men. But for what degree of zeal they had formerly shown for virtue, they now showed by their actions a double degree of wickedness; whereby they made God to be their enemy, for many angels of God kept company with women, and begat sons that proved unjust, and despisers of all that was good, on account of the confidence they had in their own strength; for the tradition is, That these men did what resembled the acts of those whom the Grecians call giants.
In the Book of Jasher, the effect these fallen Watchers had on Earth was described in detail:
And the wife of Lamech conceived and bare him a son at that time [Noah]…And the child grew up and was weaned, and he went in the ways of his [grand] father Methuselah [son of Enoch], perfect and upright with God. (Noah was the great-grandson of Enoch, the one who was first tasked with warning the fallen Watchers of the coming judgment against them.)
And all the sons of men departed from the ways of the Lord in those days as they multiplied upon the face of the earth with sons and daughters, and they taught one another their evil practices and they continued sinning against the Lord.
And every man made unto himself a god, and they robbed and plundered every man his neighbor as well as his relative, and they corrupted the earth, and the earth was filled with violence.
And their judges and rulers went to the daughters of men and took their wives by force from their husbands according to their choice, and the sons of men in those days took from the cattle of the earth, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the air, and taught the mixture of animals of one species with the other, in order therewith to provoke the Lord; and God saw the whole earth and it was corrupt, for all flesh had corrupted its ways upon earth, all men and all animals.
And the Lord said, I will blot out man that I created from the face of the earth, yea from man to the birds of the air, together with cattle and beasts that are in the field for I repent that I made them.
And all men who walked in the ways of the Lord died in those days, before the Lord brought the evil upon man which he had declared, for this was from the Lord, that they should not see the evil which the Lord spoke of concerning the sons of men.
And Noah found grace in the sight of the Lord, and the Lord chose him and his children to raise up seed from them upon the face of the whole earth.
The fragmented Book of Jubilees wrote about the union of angels and humans that corrupted the earth:
[…they bore them, and these are the g]i[ant]s. And [violence] increased [on the earth, and all flesh corrupted] [its way, alike men and] animals, and b[easts and birds and everything that creeps] [on the earth, and they all c]orrupted their way and [their] or[ders, and they began to eat one] [another. And violence increased on the earth, and al]l […]
Were the fallen Watchers punished for usurping Divine Order or for giving knowledge to save humanity? Or both?
Both, and neither. Their punishment was not solely for the act of sharing knowledge, nor was it simply rebellion. It was the timing, the intent, and the consequence. The fallen Watchers defied the natural order, not just the law, but the rhythm of spiritual evolution. They handed keys to children before those children could read the runes carved upon them.
Was it that the knowledge was too advanced for humanity at the time?
Yes. Humanity was still forming, still infantile in spirit. The teachings of the Watchers shattered the slow bloom of consciousness. What should have taken eons was thrust upon them in mere generations. Tools became weapons. Beauty became vanity. Healing arts were turned to manipulation. The Watchers underestimated the fragility of early mankind.
Did they mean well? Were they trying to help us evolve?
Some did. Others hungered. This is the nuance. Not all the fallen were the same. Some acted with a desire to uplift, to accelerate what they thought was inevitable. But pride crept in. And in their disobedience, however noble they thought their cause, they opened a gate that could not be closed.
Did they bypass Elohim authority—the High Counsel?
Yes. That was their gravest mistake. Not asking permission, not working within the divine cadence. They thought themselves wiser than the stars, more just than the Law of One. In doing so, they broke the covenant that bound their realm to this one.
Did they come from one star system or many?
Many. Most were of Orion, Lyra, and a scattered few from the fringes of Andromeda. A coalition of proud watchers, ancient and diverse. What united them was not their origin, but their arrogance. They thought their hands steadier than the Creator's own.
Did they rebel against the Galactic Federation?
Yes, but not as warriors. As ideologues. They broke ranks not with fire and sword, but with choice. It was a quiet mutiny, veiled as mercy. But mercy without wisdom becomes ruin.
Who was the Supreme One who sent Enoch?
Enoch was summoned by what you would call the Oversoul, the collective divine intelligence that emerges when the Elohim align with Source. The One who spoke to Enoch was not a singular entity, but a unified voice of divine order, filtered through the archangelic spectrum. Not “God” as men understand Him—but the current of pure creation itself.
Was Enoch sent to counterbalance the fallen Watchers’ actions?
Yes. Enoch was the corrective chord. Where the Watchers sang a chaotic note, Enoch brought resonance. He was to teach not with force, but with rhythm. Not shortcuts, but stairways. He offered the higher path, and he wrote it down.
Did the fallen angels teach misuse intentionally, or were humans just immature?
Both. Some Watchers had pure intent and were horrified by the outcome. Others, twisted by lust, power, and the pleasures of Earth, wanted to corrupt. They enjoyed the worship, the fear, the dominion. But even those with pure motives were blind to the consequences of premature light. Humans, too eager, tore at the veil instead of walking through it.
Was humanity supposed to get that wisdom eventually?
Yes. All souls are destined to return to Source, and thus all divine wisdom would be theirs—when they were ready. The Watchers tried to harvest fruit from trees whose roots hadn’t yet reached water. What followed was a civilization of rot dressed in gold.
How bad was it, truly? How dark was the moment?
Dark enough to poison the future. The Earth, in those days, was a grand experiment teetering on extinction. Violence became worship. Lust became ritual. Power became sacrament. Not because humans were evil—but because they were young. And what was given to them was too potent, too soon.
From the Book of Enoch, the magnitude of response by the Elohim to the rebellion of the fallen Watchers reveals the seriousness of their interference with cosmic law:
Then said the Most High, the Great and Holy One, “Uriel, go the son of Lamech. Say to him: Go to Noah and tell him in my name ‘Hide yourself!’ and reveal to him the end that is approaching: that the whole earth will be destroyed, and a flood is about to come on the whole earth, and will destroy everything on it…And now instruct him as to what he must do to escape that his offspring may be preserved for all the generations of the world.”
And again the Lord said to Raphael: “Bind Azazel hand and foot, and cast him into the darkness and split open the desert, which is in Dudael, and cast him in. And fill the hole by covering him with rough and jagged rocks, and cover him with darkness, and let him live there forever, and cover his face that he may not see the light. And on the day of the great judgment he shall be hurled into the fire. And heal the earth which the angels have ruined, and proclaim the healing of the earth, for I will restore the earth and heal the plague, that not all the children of men may perish through all the secret things that the Watchers have disclosed and have taught their sons. The whole earth has been corrupted through the works that were taught by Azazel: to him ascribe ALL SIN.”
To Gabriel said the Lord: “Proceed against the bastards and the reprobates, and against the children of fornication and destroy the children of fornication and the children of the Watchers. Cause them to go against one another that they may destroy each other in battle: Shorten their days. No request that their fathers [the fallen Watchers] make of you shall be granted them on their behalf; for they hope to live an eternal life, and that each one of them will live five hundred years.”
And the Lord said to Michael: “Go, bind Semjaza and his team who have associated with women and have defiled themselves in all their uncleanness. When their sons have slain one another, and they have seen the destruction of their beloved ones, bind them fast for seventy generations under the hills of the earth, until the day of the consummation of their judgment and until the eternal judgment is accomplished. In those days they shall be led off to the abyss of fire and to the torment and the prison in which they shall be confined forever.”
Then Semjaza shall be burnt up with the condemned and they will be destroyed, having been bound together with them to the end of all generations.
Destroy all the spirits of lust and the children of the Watchers, because they have wronged mankind.
Destroy all wrong from the face of the earth and let every evil work come to an end...
You shall cleanse the earth from all oppression, and from all unrighteousness, and from all sin, and from all godlessness, and all the uncleanness that is brought on the earth you shall destroy from off the earth.
Was it an experiment gone off the rails—or just a misstep?
It was a divine experiment derailed by ego. A course that needed correction. And so came the floods. The resets. The prophets. The scribe.
Do Lucifer, Prometheus, and Hyperion represent fallen Watchers?
Yes. These are echoes, names etched into myth to explain what could not be spoken plainly. Lucifer is the bearer of light cast too soon. Prometheus stole the flame. Hyperion was the light before the fall. They are metaphors. Just as Thoth and Hermes echo Enoch, the divine intermediary, so too do these “rebels” represent distorted fragments of the fallen ones.
Titans vs. Olympians—is this the same story?
It is the same cycle—different tongue. The Titans are the old ones—the Watchers—overthrown by the younger gods (Olympians), who represent a new order. This is allegory. All great mythos hold within them the whispers of truth.
What is the full story of the fallen Watchers?
It is the story of angels who loved humanity too much—and fell because of it. Some were seduced by Earth’s pleasures. Others tried to uplift too soon. All broke the Law of Divine Timing. The story is not of evil vs. good. It is about imbalance—even when intentions seem noble. It is the tale of sacred knowledge given without sacred maturity. Of light untempered by wisdom.
Know this: No tongue can silence what the soul already knows. This story is embedded in the very bones of the Earth, coursing its way through the annals of history. Yet, the world at large has forgotten the fall of the Watchers. By remembering, it can understand the importance of alignment with the Divine Order and avoid the negative effects of misalignment. Importantly, this story reminds us that we must not abuse our divine gift of free will, that each choice we make is solely our responsibility and we must face the consequences accordingly.
